Bunshō (文正) was a Japanese era name (年号,, nengō,, lit. "year name") after Kanshō and before Ōnin. The period started in February 1466 and ended in March 1467.[1] During this time, the emperor during this period was Go-Tsuchimikado-tennō (後土御門天皇).[2]
Events of the Bunshō era
1466 (Bunshō 1): At Nara, Kinpusen-ji's Nio Gate (niomon) was built.[3]
1466 (Bunshō 1, 1st month): Ashikaga Yoshimi, brother of the Shogun, was promoted to the second rank of the second class in the Imperial court hierarchy.[4]
♯The Northern pretenders did not recognize the Genkō era. Gentoku was used in the Northern Court until 1332. ₪The Shōkyō era was recognized only by the Northern pretenders, not by the Southern Court. ‡ Upon reunification of the Northern and Southern Courts in 1392, Genchū was discontinued. Meitoku was used until 1394.
