William Francis Hagerty IV (/ˈhæɡərti/ HAG-ər-tee; born August 14, 1959)[1] is an American politician, former diplomat and businessman. Since 2021, he has been the junior United States senator from Tennessee.[2] Before becoming senator, he was the 30th United States ambassador to Japan from 2017 to 2019 under the first Trump administration.[3]
In 2020, Hagerty was elected to the U.S. Senate.[4] He defeated Marquita Bradshaw.[5] Hagerty is running for re-election in 2026 election.[6]
