Sveta Doroteja

Sveta Doroteja (umrla 311) je bila hrišćanska mučenica iz Cezareje Kapadokijske.

Upravnik oblasti Saprikije poslao Doroteju dvema sestrama, Hristini i Kalisti, da bi je one odvratile od Hrista, ali Doroteja uspe da preobrati obe sestre u hrišćanstvo. Naljućen Saprikije je naredio da se sestre vežu leđima jedna za drugu i bace u kacu sa smolom, pa zapale, a Doroteju takođe osudi na smrt. Prema predanju, ona je radosno saslušala presudu, i uzviknula: „Blagodarim ti dušeljupče Hriste, što me prizivaš u tvoj Raj, i uvodiš me u presvete dvore tvoje!“ Neki prisutni velmož Teofil nasmeje se na ove reči pa doviknu Doroteji: „Čuj, nevesto Hristova, pošalji mi jabuka i cveća od šipaka iz Raja tvoga ženika!“ „Zaista ću to učiniti!“ — odgovori mu mučenica.

Hrišćani veruju da kad je Doroteja bila na gubilištu najedanput se pojavio lep dečak sa tri jabuke i tri crvena cveta od šipka, i da je to bio anđel Božji. Doroteja poruči dečaku da to odnese Teofilu i da mu kaže: „Evo ti što si želeo!“ Kada Teofil primi poruku i vide dar, beše sav prestravljen, toliko da primi hrišćanstvo. I on po predanju bi mučen i ubijen za Hrista.

Pravoslavna crkva slavi je 6. februara po julijanskom, a 19. februara po gregorijanskom kalendaru.
