Leon Sjer (hol. Léon Scieur; 19. mart 1888 — 7. oktobar 1969) je bivši belgijski profesionalni biciklista u periodu od 1913. do 1925. godine. Najveći uspeh u karijeri ostvario je 1921. godine, osvajanjem Tur de Fransa.

Karijera

Leon Sjer je počeo da se bavi biciklizmom 1911. kada je osvojio deseto mesto na Lijež—Bastonj—Liježu. 1913. počeo je profesionalnu karijeru. Osvojio je etapu na Turu Belgije, dok se sa Tur de Fransa povukao tokom sedme etape. 1914. nije ostvario nijednu pobedu, a Tur de Frans je završio na 14 mestu.

Sjer je tokom rata radio kao mehaničar, a na prvom posleratnom Turu, 1919. osvojio je četvrto mesto. I naredne godine je osvojio četvrto mesto na Turu, samo ovoga puta sa etapnom pobedom. Pre Tura, osvojio je Lijež—Bastonj—Lijež.

1921. ostvario je najveći uspeh, osvojio je Tur de Frans uz dve etapne pobede. Bio je lider od druge etape i vozio je tako jako da bi sačuvao lidersku poziciju da je dobio nadimak lokomotiva. Na usponu Kol d Aros, Sjer je imao mehaničkih problema, a Hektor Hesgem ga je napao, Sjer je bio ljut i izjavio je da ne bi trebalo napadati dok neko ima mehaničkih problema. Na etapi 12, Sjer je napao a njegovi suvozači i najbliži pratioci, Firmen Lambo i Luis Motijo su ostali pozadi, nisu hteli da ga hvataju. Gazda Tura, Anri Degranž je bio ljut i izjavio je da Tur treba da se vozi individualno a ne timski, pa je stavio Lamboa i Motijoa na zadnje mesto. Na zadnjoj etapi, Sjer je imao incident i morao je da zameni točak, iako su pravila tada nalagala da točak ne sme da se zameni pre nego što sudije ne vide trenutni točak. Nije bilo sudija blizu i Sjer je nosio polomljeni točak na leđima 300 kilometara, do cilja, da bi im ga pokazao.

Narednih godina nije uspio da zabeleži nijednu pobedu, niti da završi nijedan Tur de Frans. 1922. se povukao na trećoj etapi, a naredne dve godine je odustajao na šestoj etapi.

Kraj karijere i smrt

Leon Sjer je završio karijeru nakon povrede tokom etape 6, na Tur de Fransu. Ostatak života proveo je u rodnom Florensu, gde se bavio distribucijom gasa. Umro je 1969. godine.
