Бартель Бехам (нем. Barthel Beham; 1502, Нюрнберг — 1540) — живописец и гравёр.

Биография

Бартель Бехам родился в городе Нюрнберге в семье художника. Вместе со старшим братом Гансом Себальдом (1500—1550) учился в мастерской Альбрехта Дюрера[1], стиль которого серьёзно отразился на всём его творчестве[2].

За атеистические взгляды, пропаганду революционных для XV века идей и «безбожную живопись», ученики Дюрера были преданы суду, а затем высланы из Нюрнберга.

С 1527 года Б. Бехам работал для Вильгельма Баварского, которому обязан поездкой в Италию для усовершенствования художественного мастерства[1]. Преимущественно художник воплощал сюжеты античных времён, особенно интересуясь обнаженным телом, а также создавал великолепные портреты, изображая фигуры ландскнехтов[3].

Картины художника выставлялись в Берлинском музее, Мюнхенской пинакотеке и других местах[1].

Также Бехам известен как гравер; его эстампы (85), согласно «ЭСБЕ»: «отличаются точностью отделки и изяществом»[1]. В них преодолевается мелочность и дробность; господствуют весьма чёткие пластические формы и ясные неброские контуры. Ярким примером тому может послужить изящная, пронизанная светом и пространством «Мадонна у окна», которая представляет собой великолепную жанровую сцену[3].

Бартель Бехам скончался в 1540 году в Италии в городе Венеции[1] (согласно немецкой Википедии в Болонье[4]).
