Frederick Jackson Turner este cel mai bine cunoscut pentru eseul său The Significance of the Frontier in American History (în românăSemnificația frontierei în istoria americană), publicat în 1893, ale cărui idei au format cunoscuta Teză a Frontierei (în englezăFrontier Thesis).
