Geografia

Localiza-se a uma latitude 07º02'36" sul e a uma longitude 41º23'02" oeste, estando a uma altitude de 240 metros. Sua população estimada em 2004 era de 5 483 habitantes. Possui uma área de 208,72 km².

    'Nota linguística: Segundo as normas ortográficas vigentes da língua portuguesa, este topônimo deveria ser grafado como Suçuapara. Prescreve-se o uso da letra "ç" para palavras de origem tupi. O nome vem do tupi veado-galheiro (referindo-se ao cervo-do-pantanal). Ao longo dos anos, a grafia foi alterada para sïwasua'para, suassuapara, sussuapara e finalmente para suçuapara..
