Rastejante

O adjectivo rastejante aplica-se a coisas ou animais que se podem mover sobre o solo sem se afastarem dele. Por exemplo, um vestido com uma "cauda" rastejante.[1][2][3][4]

Em biologia, chama-se rastejante ao hábito - no sentido de comportamento habitual - de certas plantas ou animais que se deslocam ou crescem da forma indicada acima.

Vulgarmente diz-se que as cobras e, por vezes, os crocodilos têm um hábito rastejante. Muitas plantas apresentam um caule rastejante, que pode ser um rizoma, como nas samambaias, ou um caule aéreo com as características típicas dum caule erecto, (muitas espécies de gramíneas) que promove a reprodução vegetativa da planta, podendo criar raizes e caules erectos nos nós (estolho).
