Zaw Win Lay (birm. ဇော်ဝင်းလေး, ur. 22 października 1963, zm. 3 października 2014 w Mandalaju[1][2]) – mjanmański szachista, pierwszy arcymistrz szachowy pochodzący z Mjanmy[2].

Kariera szachowa

W 2000 wziął udział w turnieju Japfa Classic, rozgrywanym w Indonezji. W imprezie uczestniczyło 10 szachistów, Win Lay zajął przedostatnie miejsce, a zwycięstwo odniosła Judit Polgár[3]. Duże zainteresowanie wzbudził natomiast pojedynek z byłym mistrzem świata Anatolijem Karpowem, który mjanmarczyk zremisował[4].

Wygrał Mistrzostwa Mjanmy w szachach w latach: 1990, 1995–1996 i 2007[5].

Śmierć i upamiętnienie

Zmarł 3 października 2014, pozostawiając żonę oraz dwie córki[2]. Po jego śmierci, od 2014 organizowany był coroczny turniej upamiętniający jego wkład w rozwój szachów w kraju oraz promujący szachy na poziomie międzynarodowym[6][7][8][9][10].
