La comuna es una division administrativa, la circonscripcion la mai pichona del territòri francés[1]. Una comuna correspond generalament al territòri d'una vila o d'un vilatge. Sa superfícia e sustot sa populacion pòdon variar considerablament (la pus poblada, París, possedís mai de dos milions d'abitants, las mens pobladas zèro.

Los departaments e comunautats d'otramar tanben son largament mens devesits que los de la França metropolitana. Enfin, París e los departaments de sa pichona corona, del fach de lor talha pichona, ne còmptan fòrça mens.

La comuna (comune en italian), en l'ordenament juridic de la Republica Italiana, es una entitat locala territoriala autonòma previst per l'art. 114 de la Constitucion de la Republica Italiana. Pòt èsser subdividida en fraccions (frazione). Una comuna pòt de mai aver lo títol de vila. La disciplina generala es contenuda en lo decrèt legislatiu 18 d'agost de 2000, n. 267 e a coma organs politics lo conselh municipal, lo conselh municipal e lo cònsol.
