Neue Zürcher Zeitung på Commons

Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) er en sveitsisk dagsavis og et medieforetak. Avisen ble utgitt fra 12. januar 1780 av Salomon Gessner under navnet Zürcher Zeitung. Siden 1821 har avisen utkommet under dagens navn. I 1868 ble avisen aksjeselskap.

NZZ er ved siden av aviser som Wiener Zeitung fra 1703 og Hildesheimer Allgemeine Zeitung fra 1705 en av de eldste tyskspråklige aviser som fremdeles utkommer.

Avisen har et dagsopplag på ca. 160 000. Den internasjonale utgaven leses i mange andre land. Den regnes som en utpreget kvalitetsavis, og mange mediekritikere beskriver den som en av de beste tyskspråklige aviser, og sogar som en av de beste aviser i verden overhodet. Særlig anerkjent er dens internasjonale næringslivsdekning, som har sammenheng med et godt utbygget korrespondentnett over hele verden.

Politisk regnes avisen som liberal-borgerlig. Avisens konservative stil har imidlertid gitt den oppnavnet «den gamle tanten» i enkelte kretser.

Til 1869 utkom avisen daglig, deretter utkom den til 1894 to ganger daglig, og frem til 1969 utkom den sogar tre ganger daglig. Dette ble så redusert til to daglige utgaver, og fra 1974 igjen til én gang daglig.
