Morisker
En morisk (spansk: morisco, portugisisk: mourisco) kaltes de spanske muslimer (og deres etterkommere) som hadde latt seg døpe etter Reconquistaen av Granada i 1492. De fleste morisker holdt fast ved sitt språk, sine skikker og, i realiteten, ved sin religion. De ble derfor gjenstand for tvangsassimilering og forfølgelser. Dette utløste opprør, og 1609 ble det påbudt at alle morisker skulle forlate Spania. De utgjorde da mellom en kvart og en halv million mennesker, og de fleste drog til Nord-Afrika.[1]
