Månevann

Månevann er vann som finnes på månen. Flytende vann kan ikke eksistere over tid på månen, og vanndamp brytes ned av sollyset raskt før den forsvinner ut i rommet. Forskere har imidlertid siden 1960-tallet antatt at vannis kan finnes i kalde kratre som befinner seg i permanent skygge på månens poler.

Vann, og den kjemisk tilhørende hydroksyl-gruppen ( · OH), kan også eksistere i en form kjemisk bundet til månemineraler (snarere enn som fritt vann), og bevisene antyder at dette er tilfellet med lave konsentrasjoner over mye av månens overflate.[1] Spormengder av adsorbert vann kalkuleres faktisk å eksistere i spormengder på 10–1000 ppm.[2]
