Kosmos (TV-serie)

Kosmos (orig: Cosmos: A Personal Voyage) er en amerikansk dokumentarserie på 13 episoder som gikk på PBS i 1980. Serien dekket et vidt spenn av vitenskapelige emner som for eksempel livets opprinnelse og perspektiver på menneskets plass i universet. Mye av den handler om astronomi. Serien var skrevet av Carl Sagan, Ann Druyan og Steven Soter. Sagan var programleder og hadde arbeidet med serien i tre år.[1]

Serien ble først sendt av Public Broadcasting Service i 1980 og var den mest sette tv-serien (sendt på offentlig tv) i USA helt frem til 1990-tallet. Den er fortsatt den mest sette PBS-serien.[2] Den kostet 50 millioner kr. å lage.[1]

Den vant en Emmy og en Peabody Award og har siden vært sendt i 60 land og blitt sett av over 500 millioner mennesker. En bok som oppsummerte serien ble også publisert.

Serien ble sendt på NRK i 1981 under tittelen Kosmos.[1]
