Karl Johan Holter (født 6. juni 1870 i Son, død 28. mars 1960 i Hølen[2]) var en norsk billedkunster, som malte i nyromantisk stil.

Holter studerte ved Den kongelige norske Tegneskole i Christiania i et par år fra 1889, og hadde i 1908 et kort studium ved Kristian Zahrtmanns Kunstnernes Frie Studieskoler i København.[2] Han regnet seg allikevel først og fremst som selvlært.

Som 21 åring debuterte han på Høstutstillingen. Bildet «Blomstrende frukttre» fra 1900 er i Nasjonalgalleriets eie.[2] En rekke bilder av bygninger og miljøer i Hølen og Son er i privat eie.

Ettersom han ikke kunne livnære seg av kunsten tok han på seg, eller i praksis arvet, stillingene som poståpner, folkeregisterfører, trygdesjef, kemner og ligningsfunksjonær i Hølen.[2] Der bodde og arbeidet han i Holterhuset, som var bygget av hans bestefar.
