Østre kurtineport på Commons

Østre kurtineport, også kalt Østre port eller Porten gjennom Østre kurtine på Fredriksten festning i Halden er en festningsport oppført i 1666.[1] Porten ble som resten av festningen administrativt fredet i 1928.

Beskrivelse

Østre kurtineport ligger i Østre kurtine og gir adgang til Citadellet fra Ravelinet. Arbeidet med porten startet i 1665, og det gikk dette året med 118 såkalte blåstein, som var tilhuggen stein fra Kommersøya ved Holmestrand. Det ble også brukt tegl fra festningens eget teglverk. Året etter ble hvelvingen fullført og det ble anskaffet doble eikeporter.[2] På innsiden står årstallet 1742 til minne om at murarbeidet på Østre kurtine var ferdig, over porten står Christian IVs kronede monogram. I 1750 ble porten reparert da en del stein hadde falt ned, og i 1896 ble to mortere plassert utenfor porten. Portalen mot øst ble i på 1960-tallet erstattet med en nyhuggen kopi og i 1969 ble Fredrik IIIs monogram plassert over porten. Over porten er også en marmorplate som er en kopi av en plate fra det første minnesmerket over Karl XII.[3]
