Tom kha kai, tom kha gai atau sup kelapa Thai[1][2][3] (Bahasa Thai: ต้มข่าไก่, RTGS: tom kha kai, disebut [tôm kʰàː kàj]; Lao: ຕົ້ມຂ່າໄກ່, tom kha kai, pronounced [tôm.kʰāː.kāj]), harfiahnya "sup lengkuas ayam") adalah sup panas pedas dan masam dengan santan dalam masakan Thai dan masakan Lao.

Bahan-bahan

Di Thailand, sebahagian besar resipi tom kha kai biasanya termasuk santan, lengkuas, daun limau purut, serai, cili Thai, ketumbar, cendawan jerami (atau shiitake atau cendawan yang lain), ayam, sos ikan dan jus limau. Cili goreng kadang-kadang juga ditambah.

Variasi

Dalam gaya-Thai tom kha kai, adas manis tidak digunakan, sedangkan dalam tom kha kai gaya Laos, adas manis (phak si, Bahasa Laos: ຜັກຊີ) digunakan. Adas manis ialah herba yang biasa yang digunakan dalam masakan Lao. Jawapan Thai bagi adas manis adalah (dikenali di Thailand sebagai phak chi Lao (Bahasa Thai: ผักชีลาว), kerana ia dikenali oleh masyarakat tempatan sebagai herba Lao) dalam Thai tom kha adalah ketumbar atau ketumbar (phak chi, Bahasa Thai: ผักชี).

Terdapat tom kha kai versi lain yang diperbuat dengan makanan laut (tom kha thale, Bahasa Thai: ต้มข่าทะเล), cendawan (tom kha het, Bahasa Thai: ต้มข่าเห็ด), babi (tom kha mu, Bahasa Thai: ต้มข่าหมู) dan tauhu (tom kha taohu, Bahasa Thai: ต้มข่าเต้าหู้).[4]
