Organisma unisel, juga dikenali sebagai organisma sel tunggal, ialah organisma yang mengandungi sel tunggal, tidak seperti organisma multisel yang mengandungi pelbagai sel. Organisma unisel tergolong dalam dua kategori umum: organisma prokariot dan organisma eukariot. Prokariot termasuk bakteria dan arkea. Banyak eukariot bersifat multisel, tetapi kumpulan tersebut memasukkan protozoa, alga unisel, dan fungi unisel. Organisma unisel dianggap bentuk hidupan yang tertua, dengan protosel terawal kemungkinan muncul 3.8–4 bilion tahun lalu.[1][2]

Walaupun beberapa some prokariot tinggal dalam koloni, sel-sel ini bukan sel khusus dengan fungsi yang berbeza-beza. Organisma ini tinggal bersama, dan setiap sel mesti menjalankan kesemua proses hidup untuk mandir hidup. Berbeza, walaupun organisma multisel teringkas mempunyai sel yang bergantung pada satu sama lain untuk mandir hidup.

Kebanyakan organisma multisel mempunyai peringkat kitaran hidup unisel. Gamet, contohnya, ialah unisel pembiakan untuk organisma multisel.[3] Tambahan pula, sifat multisel muncul berevolusi bebas banyak kali dalam sejarah hidup.

Beberapa organisma separuh unisel, seperti Dictyostelium discoideum. Tambahan pula, organisma unisel boleh jadi multinukleus, seperti Caulerpa, Plasmodium, dan Myxogastria.
