Pasaulio prekybos organizacija (PPO, angl. World Trade Organization arba WTO, pranc. Organisation mondiale du commerce, isp. Organización Mundial del Comercio arba OMC) – tarptautinė organizacija, nustatanti tarptautinės prekybos taisykles ir sprendžianti prekybinius konfliktus tarp į ją įstojusių šalių, kurios visos yra pasirašę apie 30 sutarčių. Veiklą pradėjo 1995 m. 2011 metų pabaigoje joje buvo 152 narės ir 26 stebėtojos. Sąjungos būstinė įsikūrusi Ženevoje.

Lietuva yra šios organizacijos narė nuo 2001 m.

Misija

PPO siekia išplėsti tarptautinės prekybos mastus, naikindama įvairius prekybos barjerus ir suteikdama platformą įvairioms su tuo susijusioms deryboms.

Pagrindiniai principai

  • Šalis negali teikti nepelnytos pirmenybės vienam užsienio prekybos partneriui prieš kitą. Ji taip pat negali diskriminuoti užsienio prekių bei paslaugų.
  • Prekyba turi keistis link didesnės prekybos laisvės, naikinant mokestinius ir kitokius barjerus.
  • Prekybos procesai turi būti numatomi, visiems partneriams žinant, jog įvairūs prekybos barjerai nebus iškelti staiga ir dirbtinai.
  • Prekyba turi keistis link didesnės konkurencijos
  • Prekyba turi būti priderinta prie prasčiau išsivysčiusių šalių, paliekant joms ilgesnius pereinamus periodus, daugiau lankstumo ir kai kurias privilegijas.

Valdymo principai

PPO valdomas konsensuso principu – visi nariai diskusijų metu turi sutarti dėl bendro požiūrio. Šis principas skiriasi nuo daugelyje kitų tarptautinių organizacijų taikomo balsavimo. Manoma, jog taip priimami geresni sprendimai, tačiau tai ilgiau užtrunka.

Kritika

Antiglobalistai teigia, jog išsivysčiusios šalys PPO diskusijose turi svaresnį balsą ir taip išsidera palankesnes sąlygas (pavyzdžiui, dideles importo į kitą šalį kvotas, pačios tuo metu blokuodamos besivystančių šalių importą į savo teritoriją). Tai ypač pastebima žemės ūkyje, kuris išsivysčiusiose šalyse yra labai valstybės apsaugotas, tuo tarpu besivystančios šalys spaudžiamos atverti savo rinkas importui iš užsienio.
