Naujosios Švabijos teritorija

Naujoji Švabija (vok. Neuschwabenland) – teritorija Antarktidoje, „vokiečių antarktinis sektorius“ tarp 4°50' ir 16°30' rytų ilgumos, į kurį 1939–1945 m. reiškė teritorines pretenzijas nacistinė Vokietija. Formaliai nuo šių pretenzijų vokiečiai neatsiribojo iki šiol. Naujosios Švabijos teritorija buvo apibrėžta Karalienės Modos Žemėje, kurią nuo 1938 m. sava laiko Norvegija.

Istorija

Naciams atėjus į valdžią Antarktida buvo laikoma potencialia Trečiojo Reicho interesų teritorija. Kilo idėja surengti į žemyną civilinę ekspediciją, palaikomą valstybės ir bendradarbiaujant su Lufthansa. Ekspedicija turėjo ištirti konkrečią teritoriją, vėliau ją paskelbti priklausančia Vokietijai. Kelionei pasirinktas transatlantinis laivas, pavadintas istorinio vokiečių regiono vardu „Švabija“, nuo 1934 m. gabenęs pašto siuntas. Ekspedicijai vadovavo patyręs poliarininkas kapitonas Alfred Ritscher. Hamburge prieš laivo išvykimą lankėsi amerikietis poliarininkas Richard E. Byrd, kuris buvo pakviestas dalyvauti ekspedicijoje, bet atsisakė.

Vokiečių antarktinė ekspedicija vyko 1938–1939 m. Jos metu buvo ištirtas didžiulis, apie 600 000 kv. km rajonas tarp 13° vakarų ilgumos ir 22° rytų ilgumos. Kas 25–30 km iš lėktuvų buvo išmesti riboženkliai, padaryta virš 11 000 fotonuotraukų, apėmusių apie 360 000 kv. km plotą. Ekspedicijos metu atrasta laisva nuo ledų Širmacherio oazė.

Į šį regioną planuotai kitai ekspedicijai sutrukdė prasidėjęs Antrasis pasaulinis karas. Vėliau sklandė gandai, neva vokiečiai ten įkūrę slaptą karinę bazę 211 „Naujasis Berlynas“.[1] [2]
