2022년 3월 3월 23일 운동(M23)이 북키부주에서 콩고 민주 공화국과 MONUSCO를 상대로 공세를 펼쳤다. 이 공세로 북키부주에서 수천 명의 난민이 발생했으며, 콩고 민주 공화국과 M23을 지원하는 것으로 의심받고 있는 르완다 사이의 갈등이 재점화했다.
