地方都市

地方都市（ちほうとし）とは、

  1. 首都以外の都市、あるいは七大都市圏以外の都市。福祉医療機構では札幌圏、仙台圏、東京圏、名古屋圏、近畿圏、広島圏、北九州・福岡圏以外の都市を地方都市と定義している[1]。
  2. 第四次全国総合開発計画では、以下のように分類される（都市圏参照）。
    1. 地方中枢都市：札幌市、仙台市、広島市、福岡市・北九州市。札仙広福参照。
    2. 地方中核都市：地方圏（三大都市圏以外の地域）における、札仙広福以外の県庁所在地および人口が概ね30万人以上の都市。旭川市、いわき市、浜松市、豊田市、福山市など。
    3. 地方中心都市：地方圏において生活圏の中心で人口10万人程度。
    4. 地方中小都市：地方圏において人口5万人程度以下の都市。
