メルセデス・ベンツ・OM654エンジン

OM654

OM654は、メルセデス・ベンツの直列4気筒ディーゼルエンジンの系列であり、OM651系列の後継である。

EURO6d規制や、RDE（実路走行試験）規制に対応したエンジンとなる[1]。先代よりシリンダーピッチが狭くなった（94mm→90mm）ことから、前後方向に短くなり、小型化を実現した。排出ガス浄化システムは、DPFとSCR触媒コンバーターを統合したsDPF（DPF with SCR Coating：選択触媒還元法コーティング付粒子状物質除去フィルター）を 直接エンジン本体に取り付けることで、排出ガス浄化経路を短縮した。さらに、シングルステージターボチャージャーと可変タービンジオメトリを採用し、シリンダーヘッドとクランクケースはアルミニウム製とした。また、メルセデス・ベンツが開発した表面コーティング NANOSLIDE®を導入することで、 シリンダー表面とスチール製ピストンの間の摩擦を低減した。

2016年7月、Eクラス（W213）から、OM654が導入された[2]。

2019年3月、Aクラス（W177）から、横置きエンジンのOM654qが導入された[3]。日本仕様としては、コンパクトモデル群にとって、初のクリーンディーゼルモデルとなる。

同年6月、ボルグワーナーのターボチャージャーが、当エンジンに採用されたと発表された[4]。

2021年6月、Cクラス（W206）から、進化版であるOM654Mが導入された[5]。新しいクランクシャフトの採用により、ストロークが延ばされ、排気量が42cc拡大した[6]。また、コモンレール式直噴システムの最大噴射圧が、20MPaアップしたほか、ターボチャージャーは、新しい可変タービンジオメトリーの水冷式になった。排気後処理として、新たに、エンジン近傍に2つのNOx吸蔵触媒、そしてDPF（ディーゼル・パーティキュレート・フィルター）、尿素SCRシステムを備えるほか、車両下部にはもう1つSCR触媒コンバーターを追加した。同時に、48Vのマイルドハイブリッドシステム「ISG」が搭載されたことで、ガソリンモデルと同様に、電動化がなされた。
