経歴

プロ入り前

ニューアーク・メモリアル高等学校（英語版）を卒業後、シャボット短期大学（英語版）及びサウスイースト・ミズーリ州立大学（SEMO）で大学野球に参加した。SEMOでは、2015年と2016年にオハイオバレー・カンフェレンス（英語版）の投手に選ばれた[1]。

プロ入りとパドレス時代

2016年6月のMLBドラフト4巡目（全体114位）でサンディエゴ・パドレスから指名され[2]、プロ入り。契約後の6月20日に傘下のA-級トリシティ・ダストデビルズ（英語版）でプロデビュー[3]。同年9月にA級フォートウェイン・ティンキャップス（英語版）に昇格。この年は2球団合計で10先発5救援、42.0回を投げて防御率1.29を記録した[4]。

サンディエゴ・パドレス時代
（2018年4月15日）

2017年はA+級レイクエルシノア・ストーム（英語版）で開幕を迎え、同年7月にAA級サンアントニオ・ミッションズに昇格。この年は2球団合計で23先発1救援、139.0回を投げて防御率2.20を記録した[5]。

サンディエゴ・パドレス時代
（2019年8月18日）

2018年3月30日のミルウォーキー・ブルワーズ戦で先発してメジャーデビュー。2016年のMLBドラフトの選手としては、オースティン・ヘイズに次ぐ早さだった[6]。この試合では4.2回を投げて3失点で、勝敗は付かなかった[7]。4月10日のコロラド・ロッキーズ戦で先発して6回2失点の投球でメジャー初勝利を挙げた[8]。この年メジャーでは26試合に先発登板して8勝9敗、防御率4.08、145奪三振を記録した。

2019年は30試合に先発登板して規定投球回にも到達し、10勝10敗、防御率4.18、158奪三振を記録した。

2020年は3試合の登板にとどまった。

メッツ時代

2021年1月19日にパドレスとニューヨーク・メッツ、ピッツバーグ・パイレーツの3チーム間でトレードが行われ、メッツがパドレスからルケーシーを、パドレスがパイレーツからジョー・マスグローブを、パイレーツがパドレスからデビッド・ベッドナー、ハドソン・ヘッド、オマー・クルーズ、ドレイク・フェローズ、メッツからエンディ・ロドリゲスをそれぞれ獲得した[9]。シーズンでは6月に左肘の痛みのためトミー・ジョン手術を受ける必要があると診断され[10]、残りシーズンは全休することとなった。
