サンドラ・ブラウン（Sandra Brown、1948年3月12日 - ）は、米国の小説家。テキサス州出身。レイチェル・ライアン (Rachel Ryan) 、ローラ・ジョーダン (Laura Jordan) 、エリン・セント・クレア (Erin St. Claire) の名義も使用している。

テレビのリポーターやモデルなどののち、1981年より小説を書き始める。1990年代以降ベストセラーを連発し、ロマンス小説界の代表的存在。

経歴

1948年3月12日、テキサス州のウェーコに、5人姉妹の長女として生まれ、フォートワースに育つ。テキサスクリスチャン大学に進学し英語を専攻。1968年に退学し、元ニュースキャスターのマイケル・ブラウン (Michael Brown) と結婚し[1]、フォートワースに戻る。その後は民放のテレビ局KLTVでリポーターや天気予報キャスター、ダラスでモデルなどを務めた。

妊娠するまでモデルとして働き続けたが、テレビ局の仕事をやめさせられたことを機に、1981年に夫の勧めもあり小説を書き始める[2]。1987年よりロマンスにサスペンスの色彩が強い作品を発表し始め、1990年代にベストセラー作家の仲間入りを果たした。作品の大半が『ニューヨーク・タイムズ』のベストセラーリストに入っており[3]、1991年8月には3作が同時にリストに入るなど、物語展開の妙と安心して読めるハッピーエンドとを併せ持つ作品で世界中に読者を持つ。2008年2月に初来日。

2008年、母校であるテキサスクリスチャン大学から人文学の名誉博士号を授与される。

1992年に発表した"French Silk" がテレビ映画化され、1994年に放送された。出演者はスーザン・ルッチ、シャーリー・ベラフォンテ（英語版）、リー・ホースリー（英語版）など[4]。

2007年、1980年6月13日にテキサス州ワイリーで発生したベティ・ゴア殺害事件を題材とした"Murder By The Book" をtruTV用に書き下ろした。
