Tra le competizioni dello sci alpino ai XXI Giochi olimpici invernali di Vancouver 2010 lo slalom speciale femminile si disputò venerdì 26 febbraio sulla pista Dave Murray di Whistler; la tedesca Maria Riesch vinse la medaglia d'oro, l'austriaca Marlies Schild quella d'argento e la ceca Šárka Záhrobská quella di bronzo. Per la Riesch si trattò della seconda medaglia d'oro ai Giochi di Vancouver, dopo quella vinta nella supercombinata del 18 febbraio.

Detentrice uscente del titolo era la svedese Anja Pärson, che aveva vinto la gara dei XX Giochi olimpici invernali di Torino 2006 disputata sul tracciato di Sestriere precedendo le austriache Nicole Hosp (medaglia d'argento) e Marlies Schild (medaglia di bronzo); la campionessa mondiale in carica era la stessa Riesch, vincitrice a Val-d'Isère 2009 davanti alla Záhrobská e alla finlandese Tanja Poutiainen.
