Charlie Dalin

Charlie Dalin (Harfleur, 10 maggio 1984 – Quimper, 11 giugno 2026) è stato un velista francese.

Biografia

Laureatosi in architettura navale nel Regno Unito, all'Università di Southampton, insieme a Gildas Morvan vinse la Transat AG2R 2012, e a Yann Eliès la Transat Jacques-Vabre 2019. Nella Vendée Globe 2020-2021 tagliò per il primo traguardo ma gli venne assegnato il secondo posto in quanto Yannick Bestaven beneficiò di un bonus di 10 ore e 15 minuti per aver contribuito al salvataggio di Kevin Escoffier. Nel 2023 scoprì di essere affetto da un tumore gastrointestinale, ma nonostante ciò non lasciò le competizioni e si aggiudicò la Vendée Globe 2024-2025 senza scalo e senza assistenza, stabilendo anche un nuovo record del mondo.[1] Dalin è morto nel 2026, per complicazioni della neoplasia.[2]

Vita privata

Ebbe un figlio, Oscar.
