Carson Bruener (Woodinville, 5 giugno 2001) è un allenatore di football americano statunitense che milita nel ruolo di linebacker per i Pittsburgh Steelers della National Football League (NFL).

Carriera universitaria

Nella prima stagione a Washington, Bruener non disputò alcuna partita. La prima gara in carriera fu nel terzo turno del 2021 contro Arkansas State, in cui mise a segno 8 tackle e forzò un fumble nella vittoria.[1] Nella settimana 9 disputò la sua prima gara come titolare contro Stanford, terminando con 16 tackle, 1,5 sack e un fumble forzato, venendo premiato come miglior debuttante della settimana e come difensore della settimana della Pac-12 Conference.[2] La sua stagione si chiuse con 70 tackle, 1,5 sack, 2 fumble forzati e un intercetto.[3]

Nella stagione 2022 Bruener fece registrare 45 tackle e un passaggio deviato.[4] Nella settimana 12 della stagione 2023 mise a segno 14 placcaggi e un passaggio deviato nella vittoria su Oregon State.[5] Chiuse l’annata con 86 tackle, 3 passaggi deviati e un fumble forzato,[6] venendo nominato menzione onorevole per la formazione ideale della Pac-12.[7] Washington giunse fino alla finale dei College Football Playoff, perdendo contro Michigan.

Nel 2024 Bruener fu votato uno dei capitani della squadra, disputando tutte le 13 partite come titolare e guidando gli Huskies con 103 placcaggi e 3 intercetti.[8] Per le sue prestazioni fu inserito nella terza formazione ideale della Big Ten Conference

Carriera professionistica

Pittsburgh Steelers

Bruener fu scelto dai Pittsburgh Steelers nel corso del settimo giro (226º assoluto) del Draft NFL 2025.[9] Debuttò nella gara del primo turno contro i New York Jets mettendo a segno un placcaggio nella vittoria.[10] A fine anno fu inserito nella formazione ideale dei rookie dalla Pro Football Writers of America come special teamer.[11]
