Anyma, pseudonimo di Matteo Milleri (New York, 19 maggio 1988), è un disc jockey e produttore discografico italiano con cittadinanza statunitense.

Il primo EP dell'artista, intitolato Claire, è stato pubblicato nel giugno 2021 e comprendeva diverse collaborazioni, oltre al primo video musicale NFT in formato standard al mondo. Il secondo EP, Sentient, è seguito a luglio 2021. Il primo progetto in studio Genesys è uscito nell'agosto 2023 ed è stato seguito un anno dopo da Genesys II. Anyma ha collaborato con artisti come Grimes, Sevdaliza, Ellie Goulding, CamelPhat, Yeat, Lana Del Rey, FKA Twigs e G.E.M..

Biografia

Matteo Milleri è nato a New York ed è figlio del magnate italiano Francesco Milleri.[1] Si è trasferito in Italia da giovane e nel 2008 ha conosciuto Carmine Conte a Milano mentre studiava ingegneria del suono al SAE Institute. Insieme hanno formato il duo Tale of Us e si sono trasferiti a Berlino, dove sono diventati una presenza di spicco nella scena della musica elettronica.[2]

2011-2020: Tale of Us

Milleri si è fatto notare per la prima volta nel mondo dell'arte come metà del duo Tale of Us insieme a Carmine Conte (MRAK). Dopo aver pubblicato diversi EP in proprio a partire dal 2011, i Tale of Us hanno firmato un contratto con la Deutsche Grammophon nel 2017 e hanno pubblicato il loro primo album completo, Endless.[3][4] Nel 2016 hanno inoltre fondato la loro etichetta discografica, la Afterlife,[5] e nel 2023 hanno stretto una partnership con la Interscope.[6]

2021-2023: debutto da solista e Genesys

Milleri ha lanciato il progetto musicale Anyma nel 2021.[2][7] Il primo EP del progetto, intitolato Claire,[8][9][10] è stato pubblicato nel giugno 2021 dalla Rose Avenue Records e vedeva la partecipazione di Janus Rasmussen e Delhia de France.[11][12] Il brano che dà il titolo all'album è stato accompagnato dal primo video musicale NFT al mondo in alta definizione e a grandezza naturale, realizzato dall'artista berlinese Marigoldff e dallo studio IOR50.[11][12][13][14] Il secondo EP di Anyma, Sentient, è uscito nel luglio 2021 sotto Afterlife Records.[15][16][17]

Il primo album completo del progetto, Genesys, è stato pubblicato l'11 agosto 2023.[16][18][19] L'album comprende 14 brani e vede la partecipazione di artisti ospiti come Grimes, Sevdaliza e CamelPhat.[20] Tra le esibizioni dal vivo di Anyma nel 2023 figura un set sul Freedom Stage del Tomorrowland, in Belgio.[21]

2024-presente: Genesys II e The End of Genesys

Anyma alla Las Vegas Sphere nel 2024

Il 29 marzo 2024, Anyma ha pubblicato il suo secondo album in studio, Genesys II, per le etichette Afterlife e Interscope. L'album, composto da 21 tracce, includeva collaborazioni con Parisi, Karin Park e molti altri, oltre a remix di Eric Prydz, Kölsch, Amelie Lens, Daniel Avery e artisti emergenti dell'etichetta Afterlife. L'album è stato accompagnato da elementi visivi realizzati da Tobias Gremmler e Alessio De Vecchi e da una partnership nel settore della gioielleria con Bvlgari.[22][23] Ad aprile, Anyma ha preso parte per la prima volta in carriera al festival di Coachella, ospitando sul palco i dj Eric Prydz e Chris Avantgarde.[24][25]

Il 15 luglio 2024 è stato annunciato che Milleri avrebbe tenuto un residency show, intitolato Afterlife presents Anyma: The End of Genesys, alla Sfera di Las Vegas, da fine dicembre all'inizio del 2025.[26][27][28][29][30][31] È stato il primo artista di musica elettronica ad essere mai stato ingaggiato in quella sede,[32][33] e secondo quanto riportato, i 100.000 biglietti per i primi sei concerti sono andati esauriti in 24 ore.[34] A grande richiesta, alla programmazione iniziale di otto giorni sono state aggiunte quattro repliche nei mesi di febbraio e marzo 2025.[35]

Tra gli artisti ospiti della residenza figuravano Ellie Goulding,[36] FKA Twigs,[37] John Summit,[38] Grimes,[36] Luke Steele,[39] e Yeat, la cui esibizione ha segnato la prima apparizione di un rapper in quella sede.[40] Anyma ha collaborato con Alessio De Vecchi e Alexander Wessely alla realizzazione delle immagini per gli spettacoli.[31]

Il 10 gennaio 2025, Anyma ha pubblicato Hypnotized, una collaborazione con Ellie Goulding, come primo singolo estratto dal suo terzo album in studio di prossima uscita. Il brano ha ricevuto un ampio consenso da parte della critica.[41][42] Hypnotized ha raggiunto il primo posto nella classifica Dance/Mix Show Airplay, diventando il primo singolo di Anyma a conquistare il primo posto in una classifica di Billboard.[43] Il 14 febbraio ha pubblicato Voices in My Head insieme ad Argy e Son of Son, come secondo singolo dell'album.[44] Durante l'ultimo concerto della sua residenza, Milleri ha confermato che il suo prossimo album si sarebbe chiamato The End of Genesys e che sarebbe stato pubblicato il 23 maggio.[45][46] Il 25 marzo è stato reso noto che Milleri aveva firmato un contratto discografico a livello mondiale con la Kobalt Music Group.[47][48] The End of Genesys è stato ufficialmente pubblicato su tutte le piattaforme il 30 maggio 2025,[49] mentre la sua versione deluxe è stata pubblicata il successivo 31 dicembre.[50]

Anyma si è esibito in due set consecutivi insieme a Solomun alla 25ª edizione dell'Ultra Music Festival nel marzo 2025,[51] e ha fatto un'apparizione a sorpresa insieme a Yeat al Coachella 2025.[52] Tra gli altri eventi intrapresi 2025 figurano il Tomorrowland,[53] lo Sziget Festival a Budapest,[54] lo Zurich Open Air in Svizzera,[55] e il Rock en Seine in Francia.[56] Sempre nel 2025, Anyma ha raggiunto un importante traguardo nella sua carriera entrando per la prima volta nella top ten della classifica dei 100 migliori DJ stilata da DJ Mag.[57] Si è poi esibito alla finale dei campionati mondiali di League of Legends del 2025 tenutasi in Cina, dove ha ricoperto il ruolo di co-regista della cerimonia di apertura. Anyma ha realizzato un remix della canzone ufficiale del torneo, Sacrifice, interpretata da G.E.M. durante l'evento.[58]

Musica

Il sound di Anyma è influenzato dalla melodic house e dalla techno, con elementi di musica ambient, elettronica e classica.[59] Le sue esibizioni dal vivo sono pensate per creare un paesaggio sonoro e visivo che consenta al pubblico di interagire con l'arte digitale e la musica.[2][7][60]

Arti visive

Nel 2023, Milleri ha collaborato con il collettivo di moda milanese 44 Label Group alla realizzazione di una »capsule collection pensata per riflettere «la perfetta sinergia tra musica e moda».[61] Nel 2024 è stato direttore creativo visivo del concerto One Night Only di The Weeknd a San Paolo, in Brasile.[62]

Vita privata

Milleri ha sposato la top model italiana Vittoria Ceretti nel 2020.[63][64] Nel giugno 2023, Ceretti ha annunciato la separazione da Milleri in un video su TikTok.[65] Milleri non ha rilasciato alcuna dichiarazione riguardo al proprio stato civile o alla sua relazione con Ceretti.[66]

Nel marzo 2024 è stato reso noto che Milleri aveva una relazione con la cantante canadese Grimes,[67][68] terminata nel 2025.[69]
