Alsodes Bell, 1843 è un genere di anfibi anuri appartenente alla famiglia Alsodidae,[1] presente in Cile e Argentina.[2]
Descrizione
Caratteristica di questo genere è che durante la stagione riproduttiva, i maschi adulti hanno strutture spinose sulle dita e chiazze spinose e arrotondate sul petto.[3] La riproduzione si svolge in correnti di elevata intensità, e i girini hanno uno sviluppo lento, incluso lo svernamento sotto la copertura di ghiaccio.[4]
Distribuzione e habitat
La famiglia è presente in Cile e Argentina. Si tratta del genere più ricco in specie della Patagonia.[5]
