Afroaves (Ericson, 2012)[1] è un clado di uccelli, composto da martin pescatori e affini (Coraciiformes), picchi e affini (Piciformes), buceri e affini (Bucerotiformes), trogoni (Trogoniformes), curol (Leptosomatiformes), uccelli topo (Coliiformes), gufi (Strigiformes), rapaci (Accipitriformes) e avvoltoi del Nuovo Mondo (Cathartiformes).[2][3] I cladi più basali sono predatori, suggerendo che anche l'ultimo antenato comune del gruppo fosse un predatore.[4]
