Il marchio ARWA è l'acronimo dell'azienda tessile tedesca Feinstrumpf-Großwerke A. Robert Wieland, Auerbach e Chemnitz, utilizzato come logo e marchio commerciale fin dagli anni venti. Insieme a Louis Bahner di Oberlungwitz (marchio ELBEO), questa azienda è stata uno dei maggiori produttori di calze in Germania nella prima metà del XX secolo. Il marchio ARWA divenne in seguito un simbolo del miracolo economico della Germania occidentale e, grazie alle sue radici nella tradizione della maglieria dei Monti Metalliferi, fu a lungo considerato un'azienda tradizionale.

ARWA divenne così il primo produttore di calze pregiate in rayon a riprendere le operazioni nella Germania occidentale dopo la seconda guerra mondiale. Dal 1950 in poi, furono prodotte anche calze in Perlon.[1]

Nel settembre 1973, ARWA fu acquisita dal Gruppo Hudson (ora Kunert Fashion). Ciò in seguito a crescenti problemi economici, simili a quelli sperimentati da numerose altre aziende dell'industria tessile tedesca a causa della pressione sui prezzi delle merci importate.[2]
