Tentang Kebebasan Seorang Kristen

On the Freedom of a Christian (bahasa Latin: De Libertate Christiana; bahasa Jerman: Von der Freiheit eines Christenmenschen), terkadang disebut juga Sebuah Risalah tentang Kebebasan Kristen (November 1520), adalah yang ketiga dari risalah-risalah reformasi Martin Luther yang utama pada 1520, dipublikasikan setelah Kepada Bangsawan Kristen dari Negara Jerman (Agustus 1520) dan Tentang Pembuangan Gereja ke Babel (Oktober 1520). Karya ini tampil dalam satu versi yang lebih singkat dalam bahasa Jerman dan satu versi yang lebih pelik dalam bahasa Latin. Tidak ada konsensus akademis apakah versi Jerman atau versi Latin yang ditulis lebih dulu.[1] Dalam risalah ini Luther mengembangkan konsep bahwa, sebagai anak-anak Allah yang menerima pengampunan sepenuhnya, umat Kristen tidak lagi dipaksa untuk mematuhi hukum Allah. Meski demikian, menurutnya, umat Kristen secara bebas dan rela melayani Allah dan sesama mereka. Luther selanjutnya juga mengembangkan konsep pembenaran oleh iman semata (sola fide). Dalam risalah ini, Luther menyatakan, "Seorang Kristen adalah tuan semua orang yang bebas sepenuhnya, tidak tunduk pada siapapun. Seorang Kristen adalah pelayan semua orang yang berbakti sepenuhnya, tunduk pada semua orang."[2]
