Mohammad Reza Naqdi, (atau Mohammad Reza Naqadi, dinamai dari kota Naqadeh), merupakan komandan Basij dari Republik Islam Iran.

Karier

Di awal kariernya, Naqdi menjabat sebagai Kepala Pasukan Kontra-Intelijen Kepolisian Iran[2] dan juga terlibat dalam "berbagai penumpasan" selama pemerintahan Khatami tahun 1997-2005 termasuk protes mahasiswa 1999.[3] Amnesty International melaporkan bahwa pada bulan Maret 1999, pemerintah Iran mengumumkan Jenderal Naqdi, kepala intelijen polisi pada waktu itu, akan diadili di bulan Mei oleh pengadilan militer bersama 10 anak buahnya. "Tuduhan terhadap mereka antara lain `penangkapan sewenang-wenang` dan `menggunakan penyiksaan untuk mendapatkan pengakuan'."[4] Dia divonis tidak bersalah.

Naqdi ditunjuk menjadi komandan Basij oleh Pemimpin Agung Ali Khamenei di bulan Oktober 2009, menggantikan Hossein Taeb.[5] Dia digambarkan sebagai sosok yang memiliki "pemikiran konservatif" dan pelantikannya dianggap (oleh Mohsen Sazegara) telah menghancurkan harapan agar kerusuhan dan protes setelah terpilihnya kembali Presiden Ahmadinejad dapat ditangani dengan damai.[3][6]

Protes 2009

Pada 14 Februari 2011, Naqdi, seperti yang dikutip oleh Agensi berita Fars, mengatakan ia percaya protes di Iran bulan Februari diinisiasi oleh "mata-mata barat" dan bahwa "badan intelijen barat mencari orang dengan gangguan jiwa untuk membakar dirinya di Teheran agar memicu demonstrasi seperti di Mesir dan Tunisia."[7] Naqdi juga mengatakan bahwa Basij "siap untuk mengorbankan nyawa mereka" untuk membela rezim Islam, dan menyebut oposisi sebagai "partai Setan."[8]

Dua minggu kemudian pada 23 Februari 2011, Departemen Keuangan AS memberikan sanksi terhadap Jenderal Naqdi, "untuk bertanggung jawab atau terlibat dalam pelanggaran hak asasi manusia di Iran",[9] sehingga ia diblok untuk mendapat visa dan membekukan aset yang ia punya serta melarang warga AS untuk melakukan transaksi keuangan dengan mereka.[10]

Pandangan

Dalam sebuah wawancara yang ditayangkan oleh Al Manar TV pada 28 Mei 2012, Naqdi menepis kemungkinan serangan Israel kepada Iran, menyatakan bahwa "Israel adalah terlalu kecil untuk melakukan [serangan]. Pernyataan [Israel] hanya berfungsi untuk menghibur tiran yang sedang takut, yang mengatakan: "Kami berada di sini." Jika Israel melakukan kesalahan sekecil apapun atau tindakan bodoh sekecil apapun, itu akan menjadi kesalahan bodoh yang terakhir dalam hidupnya. Setiap tindakan militer bodoh Israel akan menjadi tindakan bodoh yang terakhir dalam sejarah Israel. Israel tidak mampu menghancurkan Iran. Kami menganggap ini menggelikan."[11]

Dalam sebuah wawancara yang ditayangkan oleh Al Manar TV pada 16 September 2012, Naqdi menyatakan bahwa jika Israel menyerang Iran "semua opsi akan terbuka untuk rakyat Iran. Pembebasan Yerusalem sudah ada di pikiran rakyat Iran selama bertahun-tahun, dan mereka hanya menunggu saat yang tepat. Saya katakan kepada Zionis bahwa setiap serangan terhadap Iran tidak akan berujung pada sesuatu yang menghalangi pembebasan Yerusalem."[12] Naqdi juga menyampaikan dalam pidatonya untuk pejabat Basij bahwa serangan Israel terhadap pasukan Hizbullah yang menyebabkan tewasnya seorang pejabat Pengawal Revolusi Iran di Alqonaitarah, Suriah akan dibalas dengan pembebasan Palestina.[13]
