Paul James "Mackenzie" Crook^[1] (lahir 29 September 1971) adalah pemeran, penulis, sutradara, dan pelawak tunggal berkebangsaan Inggris. Namanya dikenal melalui perannya sebagai Gareth Keenan dalam The Office, Ragetti dalam Pirates of the Caribbean films, dan Orell dalam drama seri di kanal HBO berjudul Game of Thrones.

Latar belakang

Crook lahir di Maidstone, Kent dan tumbuh besar di Dartford, Kent. Ayahnya, Michael Crook, bekerja di maskapai British Airways, dan ibunya, Sheila, adalah direktur rumah sakit.^[2]^[3] Dia memiliki dua saudara perempuan. Crook menikah dengan Lindsay. Mereka menikah pada April 2001 dan dikaruniai seorang putra,^[4] Jude Michael yang lahir 17 Januari 2003 dan puteri, Scout Elizabeth yang lahir 24 Desember 2007. Sebagai seorang anak, dia pernah menjalani kursus terapi hormon selama tiga tahun yang disebabkan oleh keterlambatan perkembangan.^[2] Di musim panas, dia menghabiskan waktu di perkebunan tembakau milik pamannya di Zimbabwe,^[3] yang akhirnya menumbuhkan kecintaannya terhadap seni lukis.^[2] Dia menempuh pendidikannya di Wilmington Grammar School for Boys, Dartford,^[5] di mana dia pernah menjadi ilustrator dan kartunis di majalah sekolah. Tahun 1996, Crook tampil kali pertama dalam film pendek The Man who Fell in Love with a Traffic Cone. Bob Mortimer melihat penampilannya di Edinburgh,^[5] termasuk juga Sacha Baron Cohen, mereka kemudian menawari Crook menjadi kontributor sketsa komedi yang ditayangkan oleh Channel 4 bertajuk The Eleven O'Clock Show tahun 1998.^[7] Kemudian dia bergabung dalam sketsa komedi di kanal BBC TV to Go tahun 2001.^[7]
