Hindia Moeda

Hindia Moeda merupakan surat kabar yang terbit pertama kali pada 1 Mei 1917. Koran ini terbit setiap Selasa, Kamis, dan Sabtu.[1]

Redaktur koran ini yaitu Mas Atje Padmawiguna, dan di bagian administratur ada Ki Agoes Anang Somad. Hindia Moeda dicetak oleh percetakan Snelpersdrukkerij “Tjia Eng Thaim ”, Kampung Cina Telok Betong. Kantor redaksinya di Kampoeng Palembang-Telok Betong, Lampung.[1]

Surat kabar ini menyandarkan kelestarian hayatnya pada pelanggan dan iklan. Oleh karena itu, redaksi memberikan ruang yang lapang untuk iklan. Dari keempat halamannya, dua halaman terakhir dijatah untuk iklan. Penjatahan itu klop dengan jargonnya, “Soerat Kabar dan Advertentie”.[1]

Jargon dan penampilannya itu membuat orang mudah sangsi ketika harus mengategorikannya sebagai koran pergerakan. Namun, kesangsian itu akan hilang ketika pembaca mencermati pendahuluan di edisi mula-mulanya, yang menyatakan bahwa haluannya “... ialah haloeannja orang memiliki pikiran ‘kaoem moeda' atawa haloeannja pergerakan Zaman."[1]

Surat kabar ini sering menyuntukkan diri dengan mencermati dunia pendidikan. Saat itu, sebagian besar rakyat Lampung meletakkan pendidikan di tempat nomor dua. Surat kabar ini mengompori rakyat agar menjadikan pendidikan sebagai kebutuhan pokok. Tentu saja tidak mudah mengubah anggapan yang telah menjadi nilai sosial.[1]
