Japan Media Arts Festival merupakan festival tahunan yang diselenggarakan sejak tahun 1997 oleh Jepang, melalui Badan Urusan Budaya. Festival dimulai dengan kompetisi terbuka dan berujung dengan pemberian beberapa hadiah dan pameran.[1][2][3]

Berdasarkan penilaian oleh juri rekan-rekan artistik, penghargaan diberikan dalam empat kategori: Seni (sebelumnya disebut Seni Digital Non-Interaktif), Hiburan (sebelumnya disebut Seni Interaktif; termasuk video game dan situs web ), animasi, dan manga. Dalam setiap kategori, satu Hadiah Utama, empat Hadiah Keunggulan, dan (sejak 2002) satu Hadiah Dorongan diberikan
