Pdt. Drs. Edi Suranta Ginting, M.Div., M.Th. (ESG) adalah seorang pendeta, penulis, dosen dan tokoh sejarah gereja di Indonesia. Dia merupakan pendeta dan juga menjabat sebagai Ketua Sinode Gereja Injili Karo Indonesia (GIKI), di mana dia adalah salah satu pendirinya. Dia juga menjadi pengajar di Institut Alkitab Tiranus di Bandung.[1]

Pelayanan

Yayasan Pekabaran Injil Taneh Karo Simalem (YPI Takasima)

Pada tahun 1991 Edi Suranta Ginting menjabat sebagai sekretaris Yayasan Pekabaran Injil Taneh Karo Simalem (YPI Takasima). Yayasan ini didirikan oleh beberapa aktivis yang terlibat dalam Tim Ezra, yaitu sebuah biro pelayanan dibawah naungan Gereja Batak Karo Protestan (GBKP), yang diketuai oleh Pdt. B. A. Peranginangin.

Gereja Injili Karo Indonesia

Di bawah naungan Gereja Kristen Kudus Indonesia (GKKI), pada hari Minggu, 27 Juni 1992 GKKI Jemaat Karo Injil Kabanjahe resmi berdiri dengan Pdt. B. A Peranginangin menjadi pendeta jemaatnya yang juga merupakan satu-satunya pendeta yang ada di Jemaat Karo Injili kala itu dan dilanjutkan peresmian GKKI Jemaat Karo Injil Bandung (sekarang GIKI Bandung) pada Minggu, 27 September 1992. Hal ini mendorong proses kemandirian yang pada akhirnya didirikannya Gereja Injili Karo Indonesia yang disingkat dengan GIKI menjadi sinode sendiri. Untuk keberlangsungan pelayanan serta kemandirian, maka disusun AD/ART serta kepengurusan Sinode GIKI pertama yang bersifat sementara, karena kepengurusan tidak dipilih antara pengurus jemaat yang ada, serta mengenai AD/ART dikemudian akan terus disusun berdasarkan kebutuhan. Dalam susunan Pengurus Majelis Sinode GIKI pertama yang diketuai oleh Ir. Remedi Peranginangin tersebut, Pdt. Edi Suranta Ginting dipilih sebagai sekretaris.[2][3]

Dalam susunan Pengurus Majelis Sinode Gereja Injili Indonesia Periode 2010 – 2013, Pdt. Edi Suranta Ginting dipilih sebagai Ketua Umum.[4] Pada Pekan Persekutuan Tingkat Sinode - Gereja Injili Karo Indonesia (PTS - GIKI) 2013 yang diselenggarakan bersamaan dengan ulang tahun ke-21 GIKI, serta Sidang Sinode dan pemilihan pengurus Sinode GIKI Periode 2013-2016 di Kabanjahe, Pdt. Edi Suranta Ginting kembali dipercayai untuk memimpin GIKI di Periode 2013-2016.[2]
