Anak Usia Dini

Sepanjang hidup manusia, mulai masih dalam kandungan, dilahirkan, dan kemudian sampai tua memproleh sebutan yang berganti-ganti.[1] Pergantian sebutan didasarkan pada usianya, dan merupakan fase-fase dalam perkembangan yang dilewati. Menurut Sugiyanto dan Sudjarwo (1991) secara garis besar ada 5 fase perkembangan dalm hidup manusia:

  1. Fase Prenatal (sebelum lahir.[1]
  2. Fase Infant (bayi), yaitu fase perkembangan mulai lahir sampai umur 1-2 tahun. Mulai lahir sampai 4 minggu merupakan fase kelahiran atau neonatal.[1]
  3. Fase Childhood (anak-anak), adalah fase perkembangan mulai umur 1atau 2 tahun sampai 10-12 tahun, fase ini diklasifikasikan lagi menjadi dua, yaitu early childhood (anak kecil) antara 1-6 tahun, dan later childhood (anak besar) antara 6-12 tahun.[1]

‘’’Anak Usia Dini’’’ oleh Beeker dikelompokkan pada anak yang berusia antara 3-6 tahun, anak usia tersebut biasanya mengikuti program pendidikan dini atau kindergarten.[1] Dalam bukunya,Soemiarti (2003), menyebutnya anak prasekolah, yang di Indonesia biasanya mengikuti program di Tempat Penitipan Anak, Pendidikan anak usia dini, BTeach (Baby Teach) dan Taman Kanak-kanak.[2]
