וינס פלין (אנגלית: Vince Flynn;‏ 6 באפריל 1966 – 19 ביוני 2013) היה מחבר ספרות בלשית אמריקאי.

תולדות חייו

וינס פלין נולד במיניאפוליס, סיים את האקדמיה על שם סנט תומאס בשנת 1985 ואת האוניברסיטה על שם סנט תומאס, במגמת כלכלה, בשנת 1989. עם סיום לימודיו החל לעבוד בתאגיד המזון קראפט בתור מנהל שיווק ומכירות. בשנת 1990 עזב את עבודתו מתוך רצון להיות טייס בחיל הנחתים האמריקני. שבוע לפני תחילת הקורס, הוא קבל הודעה שמועמדותו נדחית. הסיבה לסירוב הייתה רפואית, כיוון שבצעירותו סבל מהתקפי אפילפסיה. פלין נכנס לעבוד בחברת מקרקעין United Properties במיניאפוליס. בזמנו החופשי הוא החל לכתוב. לאחר שנתיים הוא הגיע לכלל החלטה נועזת, לעזוב את עבודתו ולהתמסר לכתיבה. הוא עבר לקולורדו והחל לכתוב את מה שעתיד להיות ספרו הראשון "Term Limits". לפרנסתו הוא עבד בלילות בתור מוזג בבר בעיר, ואילו את שעות היום הקדיש לכתיבה. לאחר חמש שנות עבודה ויותר משישים מכתבי סירוב שקבל מהוצאות ספרים שונות, הוא נקט בצעד יוצא דופן והוציא את ספרו הראשון באופן עצמאי. הספר זכה להצלחה גדולה ותוך זמן קצר הוצע לו חוזה עם הוצאת הספרים הידועה Pocket Books שבבעלות סימון ושוסטר. ספריו הגיעו למקומות ראשונים ברשימת רבי המכר של הניו יורק טיימס, והוא החל להתפרסם בזכות התיאורים והאזהרות המתמידים שבספריו, כנגד הטרור של האסלאם הפונדמינטליסטי.

פלין נחשב לסופר פופולרי בקרב החוג הפוליטי והחברתי של העיר וושינגטון. הנשיאים לשעבר ביל קלינטון וג'ורג' ווקר בוש נמנים עם אוהדיו. עבדאללה השני, מלך ירדן גם הוא נחשב לחובב ספריו ואף ארח את הסופר בארמונו. פלין ידוע בקרב קהילת המודיעין כסופר שתיאוריו ריאליסטים. ספרו "צופן וושינגטוני" עוכב פרק זמן על ידי הפנטגון ואושר לפרסום רק אחרי בדיקה ביטחונית. וינס פלין שמש כיועץ לסדרת הטלוויזיה 24, מהפרק החמישי ואילך.

נפטר ב-19 ביוני 2013 לאחר מאבק בן שלוש שנים בסרטן הערמונית.

כתיבתו וגיבוריו

הפיכתו של וינס פלין לסופר מצליח יכולה להתקבל בפליאה מסוימת, כיוון שהוא סובל מילדותו מדיסלקסיה. פלין עצמו מספר שבמאמץ להתגבר על קשיי הליקוי הוא הכריח את עצמו לכתוב ולקרא יום יום. הוא החל לקרוא כל מה שנקרה תחת ידו ארנסט המינגוויי, רוברט לדלום, טום קלנסי, גור וידאל, ג'.ר.ר. טולקין ואחרים. אולם לבו הלך בעיקר שבי אחרי ספרי ריגול. את הדחיפה לכתוב קבל לאחר אי קבלתו לקורס טיס. פלין פרסם עד כה ארבעה עשר ספרים, אשר שלושה מהם הופיעו בתרגום עברי. הוא סופר של גיבור אחד, הפרוטגוניסט של כל ספריו הוא מיטש ראפ איש הסי. איי.אי, המתמחה בלוחמה בטרור. ראפ הוא איש פעולה ובשעת הצורך אף אינו חושש ליטול את עשיית הצדק לידיו, הוא בעל לשון שנונה ממעט בדיבור, מסור מאוד לארצו, אולם מתוסכל מאוד מסרבול הנהלים והסחבת שמאפיינים את הממשל ולעיתים הוא מתעלם מהם . בשנת 2007 זכה ספרו Protect and Defend, למקום ראשון ברשימת רבי המכר של ניו יורק טיימס. כך גם שני ספריו (2010) American Assassin, ו־Kill Shot were,[1] וכן גם ספרו האחרון " "The Last Man.[2] חברת CBS רכשה את זכויות לסרט על פי ספרו " רוצח אמריקאי".[3]

ספרו "American Assassin" עובד לסרט מתח והפעולה מתנקש אמריקאי ב-2017.[4]

וינס פלין התגורר במיניאפוליס עם אשתו ושלושת ילדיו.
