אמפייר דיסטריביושן (באנגלית: EMPIRE Distribution, Records and Publishing Inc.‎; משווקת כ-EMPIRE) היא חברת תקליטים והפצה אמריקאית, שהוקמה בשנת 2010 על ידי גאזי שאמי.[1] החברה ממוקמת בסן פרנסיסקו, עם משרדים בניו יורק, לונדון, נאשוויל ואטלנטה. החברה הוציאה אלבומים בסוגות שונות אך היא מתמקדת בעיקר במוזיקת היפ הופ. חברות בולטות רבות שיתפו פעולה עם אמפייר, עם מוזיקה המופצת בפלטפורמות כגון אייטונס, גוגל פליי, אמאזון, דיזר, ספוטיפיי, SoundCloud ו-Rdio, לצד עותקים פיזיים של תקליטורים ותקליטים המופצים בחנויות תקליטים שונות.

אמפייר תמכה באלבומי בכורה והסינגלים הראשונים של אמנים בולטים רבים. בסצנה האזורית של אטלנטה, הייתה אמפייר לחברה הראשונה שהוציאה את תקליטיהם של טרינידד ג'יימס, ריץ' הומי קוואן, מיגוס, רוקו וקיי קאמפ. בלוס אנג'לס, הפיצו אלבומים עבור אמנים כגון קנדריק לאמאר, סקולבוי קיו, פרובלם, סקים וקרוקד איי. הם היו מעורבים גם בהפצת אלבומים של אמנים מניו יורק, בהם טרוי איי, סטיילס פי, קמ'רון ובאסטה ריימס. בסוגת ה-R&B, החתימו אמנים כגון אריק בלינגר, ג'אקיז, ג'סי בויקינס השלישי, ג'ון הארט וליריקה אנדרסון. אמפייר אף הוציאה אלבומי רגאיי מצליחים שונים, בהם אלבומו של אמן הרגאיי ג'יי בוג, Backyard Boogie.[2]

היסטוריה

הקמה

אמפייר הוקמה בשנת 2010 על ידי המנכ"ל גאזי שאמי, בוגר טכנולוגיית מוזיקה באוניברסיטת המדינה בסן פרנסיסקו (אנ') ומנהל המוזיקה האורבנית לשעבר בחברת INgrooves (אנ').[1] בהפעלת החברה צטרפה אל שאמי נימה אטמינן, בוגרת תואר שני במנהל עסקים בניהול מדיה מבית הספר למדיה בהמבורג. אטמינן, מייסדת פלטפורמת ההיפ הופ DubCNN.com,[3] פעלה להרחבת המשימה והשירותים ובשנת 2011 טיפלה בשיווק ו-A&R. אטמינן משמשת כיום כסגנית נשיא לתפעול ו-A&R.[4]

הוצאות

אחת מההוצאות הראשונות של החברה היה האלבום Authenticity של צמד ההיפ הופ "The Foreign Exchange", שיצא ב-12 באוקטובר 2010. האלבום נכנס למצעד הבילבורד 200, והגיע בשיאו למקום ה-145. במצעד אלבומי ה-R&B/היפ-הופ, הגיע האלבום למקום ה-23. אלבומו של הראפר סקולבוי קיו, Setbacks, שיצא בינואר 2011, הגיע למקום השישי במצעד אלבומי ה-R&B/היפ-הופ, ולמקום ה-100 במצעד הבילבורד 200. Longterm Mentality של אב-סול, שיצא באפריל שלאחר מכן, הגיע בשיאו למקום ה-32 במצעד אלבומי ה-Heatseekers של הבילבורד. בנובמבר 2013, אלבומו של הופסין, Knock Madness, הגיע בשיאו למקום ה-76 במצעד הבילבורד 200, ולמקום הראשון במצעד אלבומי ה-Heetseekers.

נינה אטמינן החתימה עד מהרה את אמן ההיפ הופ הקליפורני קנדריק לאמאר על הסכם הפצה, וכבר בתחילת 2012 אמפייר החלה לטפל בהפצה של כל הפרויקטים של חברת טופ דואוג אנטרטיינמנט, בהם Section.80 של לאמאר.[3] האלבום יצא ב-2 ביולי 2011 והגיע למקום ה-113 במצעד הבילבורד 200, ולמקום הראשון במצעד אלבומי ה-Heatseekers.

בשנת 2012 יצאו אלבומים עבור אמנים כגון סלאם וילאג', טרינידד ג'יימס, סנופ דוג ופרדי גיבס, שחלקם נכנסו למצעדים. בשנת 2012 החברה סייעה בארגון סיבוב ההופעות המשותף של הראפרים טריי ת'ה טרות' וג'יי סטלין, שהתקיים ב-2013. בנוסף, הפיצה החברה את האלבום Still Goin In (Reloaded) אשר נבחר על ידי רולינג סטון למיקסטייפ העשירי הטוב ביותר לשנת 2013.
