אלזה הירש (בגרמנית: Else Hirsch;‏ 29 ביולי 1889 – 1942 או 1943) הייתה מורה יהודייה מהעיר בוכום, גרמניה, וחברה בתנועת ההתנגדות הגרמנית נגד הרייך השלישי. היא ארגנה את העברתם של ילדים יהודים להולנד ואנגליה, והצילה אותם מגירוש למחנות הריכוז וההשמדה. הירש נספתה בגטו ריגה בגיל 53 או 54.

קורות חיים

נולדה בבוצוב, בדוכסות הגדולה מקלנבורג-שוורין, הירש הגיעה מברלין לבוכום בסוף 1926 והתגוררה עם אמה. היא ניגשה לבחינת הגמר כדי להיות מוסמכת כמורה לתלמידים בגילאי העשרה, אך הייתה מובטלת לכן החלה ללמד בבית הספר היהודי. בתחילה לא מרוצה מכך, אך עד מהרה התמקדה בעבודה. בזמנה הפנוי עבדה הירש במועדון הנשים היהודי בבוכום והעבירה שיעורי עברית לבנות עד שהפעילות הופסקה על ידי הנאצים בסתיו 1933.

באוקטובר 1937 למדה קורס אנגלית מטעם הנציגות הארצית של יהודי גרמניה, בברלין כדי ללמד לשיעורי אנגלית למי שעשוי להיות מסוגל להגר. היא נסעה לארץ ישראל ביוני 1938.

ב־11 בנובמבר 1938, בליל הבדולח, בית הכנסת בוכום נשרף.[1] בית הספר היהודי נהרס גם על ידי האס אה. לאחר מכן גורשו כל הנציגים הרשמיים של הקהילה היהודית. הירש נלחמה לפתיחת בית הספר מחדש, אך הוא נותר פתוח רק זמן קצר.

הירש החלה לארגן את העברתם של ילדים ובני נוער בתיאום עם הראשי הקהילה היהודית. בין דצמבר 1938 לאוגוסט 1939 היא ארגנה את העברתם להולנד ואנגליה. הירש דאגה לכל הכנות הנסיעה, מילאה את הטפסים הנדרשים, רשמה את הילדים, אספה מסמכים נדרשים, שיגרה ניירות ללונדון, שמירת מקומות ישיבה ברכבות, קניית הכרטיסים ושמירה על קשר הדוק עם ההורים.

היא נשארה עם התלמידים שנותרו כמורה היהודית היחידה עד לסגירת בית הספר בספטמבר 1941. הגירה ליהודים הייתה אסורה לאחר שנת 1941. בסוף ינואר 1942 גורשו הירש וכמה מתלמידיה לגטו ריגה. תלמיד ששרד סיפר כי במשך תקופה קצרה היא המשיכה ללמד ילדים. היא גם ארגנה ארוחות לאנשים חלשים ולקשישים. בפעם האחרונה בה התלמיד ששרד ראה אותה, היא אספה סרפד ועלי שן הארי כדי לבשל מרק ירקות לקשישים. היא נפטרה בגטו בשנת 1942 או 1943.

הנצחה

אבן נגף ושמה של הירש מוטבע עליה במרכז העיר בוכום

רחובות בבוכום ובאד לוזיק נקראים על שמה.[2][3]

בבוכום הוטבעה אבן נגף ברחוב הויס 28, שם לימדה בין השנים 1927 – 1941.
