אלונסו אלוורס דה פינדה בספרדית: Alonso Álvarez de Pineda‏; 1494 – 1519) היה קונקיסטאדור וקרטוגרף ספרדי, שתועד לראשונה בתולדות טקסס. בשנת 1519 הוא הוביל מספר משלחות למיפוי קווי החוף המערביים של מפרץ מקסיקו, מחצי האי יוקאטן ועד נהר פאנוקו, צפונית לוורוצ'וז. חואן פונסה דה ליאון מיפה בעבר חלקים מפלורידה, שלדעתו הוא אי. החקירה של אנטון דה אלמינוס ביטלה את האזורים המערביים כאתר המעבר, והשאירה את השטח בין נהר פאנוקו לפלורידה.[1]

אלמינוס שכנע את מושל סנטיאגו, פרנסיסקו דה גאראי, לממן משלחת למיפוי בשאר מפרץ מקסיקו. גאראי קיבל שלוש אוניות עם מאתיים ושבעים חיילים, והציב אותן בפיקודו של דה פינדה.[2] הם עזבו את סנטיאגו בתחילת 1519 והפליגו מערבה לאורך קו החוף הצפוני של המפרץ.[1] בקצה המערבי של דרום פלורידה הוא ניסה להפליג מזרחה, אך הרוחות לא היו מתאימות. במקום זאת, הוא הפליג מערבה לאורך חוף מפרץ המפרץ.[3]

ב־2 ביוני 1519 נכנס אלוורס דה פינדה למפרץ גדול עם ההתיישבות צפופה של ילידים אמריקאיים בחוף אחד. הוא הפליג במעלה נהר המיסיסיפי. תיאור הארץ והתיישבותה, הביאו היסטוריונים רבים להאמין שהוא תיאר את מפרץ מוביל ואת נהר אלבמה.[4]

אלונסו אלוורס דה פינדה המשיך במסעו מערבה. ב־24 ביוני 1519, ביום החג הרומי הקתולי של קורפוס כריסטי, הפליג אל מה שהוא כינה מפרץ קורפוס כריסטי. אין שום עדות אמינה לכך שאי פעם הגיע לחופי טקסס, אך הוא עגן מווילה ריקה דה לה וראקרוס, זמן קצר לאחר שהרנן קורטס עזב.[3]

קורטס חזר כששמע על בואו של דה פינדה.[5] דה פינדה ביקש לסמן גבול בין האדמות שהוא טוען כשייכות לגאראי לאלה שקורטס כבר טען לבעלות עליהן. קורטס לא היה מוכן להתמקח, ודה פינדה עזב כדי לחזור צפונה. זמן קצר לאחר מכן הפליג במעלה נהר ששמו לאס פלמאס, שם בילה למעלה מארבעים יום בתיקוני ספינותיו. לאס פלמאס היה ככל הנראה נהר פאנוקו ליד טמפיקו של ימינו, טאמוליפס, מקסיקו.[6]

אף על פי שדה פינדה נהרג בקרב עם ילידי נהר פאנוקו, המפה שלו הגיעה למושל גאראי.

המשלחת סימנה את גבולות מפרץ מקסיקו, תוך שלילת הרעיון של מעבר ים לאסיה. המיפוי גם אימת שפלורידה הייתה חצי אי במקום אי, ואפשרה לאלוורס דה פינדה להיות האירופי הראשון שראה את אזורי החוף של מערב פלורידה, אלבמה, מיסיסיפי, לואיזיאנה וטקסס, אדמות שכינה "עמיחל." "[1]

המפה שלו היא המסמך הידוע הראשון בהיסטוריה של טקסס והייתה המפה הראשונה של אזור חוף מפרץ המפרץ בארצות הברית והיא מאוחסנת בארכיב הכללי דה אינדיאס בספרד.[7]
