אלוורו ז'ואקים דה מלו סיזה ויאיירה (פורטוגזית: Álvaro Joaquim de Melo Siza Vieira; נולד ב-25 ביוני 1933) הוא אדריכל פורטוגלי זוכה פרס פריצקר, הידוע בסגנונו הפואטי אשר מגשר בין הסגנון המודרני ובין מוצאו הים-תיכוני שממנו הוא מושפע. רבות מעבודותיו הזכורות מצויות בפורטוגל וחלק נכבד מהן בעיר פורטו.

ביוגרפיה

סיזה נולד במטוסיניוש הסמוכה לפורטו. הוא סיים את לימודיו בבית הספר לאמנויות יפות של אוניברסיטת פורטו בשנת 1955. כבר שנה קודם לכן השלים את בניית הפרויקט הראשון שלו, ארבעה בתים בעיר הולדתו; והקים את משרדו העצמאי בפורטו. סיזה הצטרף לסגל בית-הספר ולימד בו בין השנים 1966 ו-1969, וכן בשנת 1976. במקביל לכך הוזמן כמרצה אורח באוניברסיטאות נחשבות בעולם ובהן הרווארד, אוניברסיטת פנסילבניה והאקול פוליטיק נסיונל בלוצרן.

בין שלל עבודותיו, ידועות במיוחד אלו שייצגו את הביתן הפורטוגלי בתערוכות אקספו 98' שנערכה בליסבון ואקספו 2000 בהנובר. לפי דבריו, סגנונו מושפע מזה של האדריכל המקסיקני הנודע לואיס ברגאן.

תערוכתו הגדולה הראשונה בארצות הברית עלתה בשנת 1987 ביוזמתו של דיקן בית הספר לעיצוב באוניברסיטת הרווארד, האדריכל הספרדי רפאל מונאו. בשנת 1992 זכה סיזה בפרס האדריכלות החשוב ביותר, פרס פריקצר, כהכרה בעבודת השימור והתכנון ברובע ההיסטורי של העיר ליסבון.
