SIMBAD (ראשי תיבות Set of Identifications, Measurements and Bibliography for Astronomical Data) הוא בסיס נתונים דינמי של גרמי שמיים מעבר למערכת השמש. הוא מתוחזק על ידי מרכז נתוני האסטרונומיה בשטרסבורג (CDS) של אוניברסיטת שטרסבורג שבצרפת ומעודכן בתדירות יומית.

בסיס הנתונים SIMBAD מספק את הביבליוגרפיה, כמו גם מידע בסיסי זמין כגון אופי האובייקט, הקואורדינטות שלו, גודל, היסט, מהירות / הסחה לאדום, סיווג ספקטרלי או מורפולוגי, וכמות השמות (מזהים) המופיעים בספרות. צוות מרכז נתוני האסטרונומיה של שטרסבורג מבצע גם זיהוי צולב על סמך תאימות של מספר פרמטרים, בגבול של אסטרומטריה טובה למדי. SIMBAD הוא אוסף מטא (אנ') הבנוי ממה שמתפרסם בספרות, וממומחיות בנושא זיהויים צולבים. המידע מאוד לא הומוגני מכיוון שהנתונים מגיעים מכל סוג של מכשירים בכל אורכי הגל עם כל רזולוציה ואסטרומטריה, ושמות שונים מפרסום אחד למשנהו. SIMBAD אינו קטלוג, ואין להשתמש בו כקטלוג. מרכז הנתונים האסטרונומי של שטרסבורג מספק גם את מסד הנתונים VizieR המכיל רשימות אובייקטים שפורסמו, כמו גם סקרים גדולים מאוד. הרעיון כעת הוא להשתמש ב־SIMBAD וגם ב־VizieR ככלי מחקר משלים.

בסיס הנתונים SIMBAD נוצר בשנת 1979 על ידי מיזוג של הקטלוג לאפיון כוכבים (אנ') ‏ (CSI) עם ה־Bibliographic Star Index ומאז הורחב עם עוד קטלוגים ממקורות נוספים. הגרסה הראשונה הזמינה באינטרנט, גרסה 2, יצאה בשנת 1981.[1] גרסה 3 שפותחה בשפת C עבור מערכת ההפעלה UNIX יצאה לאור בשנת 1990[2] ונמצאת במצפה של שטרסבורג (אנ'). בשנת 2000 יצאה גרסה 4, הכתובה בשפת ג'אווה[3] והמידע מאוחסן במערכת לניהול הנתונים PostgreSQL.

נכון ליוני 2020,‏ SIMBAD מכיל מידע על כ־5,800,000 כוכבים ועוד 5,500,000 גופים שמימיים נוספים (גלקסיות, ערפיליות, צבירי כוכבים, נובות, סופר נובות ועוד)[3]

כוכב הלכת המינורי 4692 SIMBAD נקרא על שם בסיס הנתונים הזה.[4]
