רומבק (באנגלית: Rumbek; בערבית: رمبك) היא בירת מדינת האגמים שבדרום סודאן ועיר הבירה הקודמת של דרום סודאן.

מיקום

העיר רומבק נמצאת בנפת רומבק המרכזית שבמדינת האגמים, אחד מעשרת המחוזות במרכז דרום סודאן, כ-377 ק"מ צפונית לעיר הבירה ג'ובה.[1] גובהה של העיר הוא 420 מטרים מעל פני הים.[2]

סקירה

לאחר חתימת הסכם השלום שנחתם עם ח'רטום שהביא לסיום מלחמת האזרחים הסודאנית השנייה, בחרה התנועה לשחרור העם הסודאני ברומבק לבירה הזמנית של המדינה והמרכז השלטוני שלה.[3] לאחר מכן נקבעה העיר ג'ובה כבירתה הקבועה של דרום סודאן. בדומה לרוב הערים והכפרים במדינה, ספגה העיר פגיעות קשות ומשמעותיות בתשתיות במהלך מלחמת האזרחים הסודאנית השנייה.

אוכלוסייה

בשנת 2004 העריך האו"ם את אוכלוסיית נפת רומבק בכ-82,500 נפש. כש-60% מהם משתייכים לשבט הדינקה-אגר, 30% משתייכים לשבט הדינקה-גוק, 6% לשבט הבונגו ו-4% לשבט ג'ור-בל.[4] בשנת 2011 הוערכה אוכלוסיית העיר רומבק בכ-32,100 נפש.[5]

תחבורה

העיר רומבק נמצאת בסמוך לדרך הראשית A43 המחברת בין ג'ובה שבדרומה וואו בצפונה. בנוסף קיימות שתי דרכים נוספות לעיר: האחת מובילה לעיירה ירול (Yirol) ממזרח לעיר והשנייה לדורבוני (Durbuoni) שמצפון לעיר. משנת 2005 עברו מספר דרכים לעיר שיפוץ וחלקן נמצאות בסלילה. בנוסף קיים בעיר שדה תעופה.
