מייג'ור גנרל רודני פרדריק לאופולד קלר CBE (באנגלית: Rodney Frederick Leopold Keller;‏ 2 באוקטובר 1900 – 21 ביוני 1954) היה קצין בצבא קנדה במלחמת העולם השנייה, שפיקד על הדיוויזיה הקנדית השלישית, שנחתה בחוף ג'ונו במהלך הפלישה לנורמנדי.

ביוגרפיה

רוד קלר נולד בטטברי, אנגליה ב-2 באוקטובר 1900, ונכנס למכללה הצבאית המלכותית בקינגסטון, אונטריו, בשנים האחרונות של מלחמת העולם הראשונה. עם סיום לימודיו הצטרף לרגימנט חיל הרגלים הקנדי של הנסיכה פטרישיה, אחד הרגימנטים של הכוח הקבוע הקנדי. כמו קצינים קנדים מבטיחים רבים אחרים של אותה תקופה, הוא למד במכללה לפיקוד ומטה, קימברלי באנגליה.

כאשר קנדה יצאה למלחמה, נשלח רוד קלר מעבר לים כקצין אג"ם של חטיבה. הוא מונה למפקד על רגימנט חיל הרגלים הקנדי של הנסיכה פטרישיה בשנת 1941 ומספר חודשים לאחר מכן מונה למפקד חטיבת הרגלים הקנדית הראשונה. קלר הועלה לדרגת מייג'ור גנרל, וב-8 בספטמבר 1942 מונה למפקד הדיוויזיה הקנדית השלישית. קלר היה פופולרי בקרב כוחותיו, שהעריכו את נימוסיו ואת שפתו המדוברת; עם זאת, בעיית שתייה וכמה הפרות של אמצעי אבטחה לפני ה-D-Day עלו לו בתמיכה של הקצינים הבכירים.[1]

במהלך החודש הראשון של המערכה בנורמנדי צוין כי הוא "קופצני ומתוח נורא".[2] הממונים עליו בקורפוס הבריטי הראשון ובארמייה הבריטית השנייה ראו אותו כלא כשיר לפיקוד על הדיוויזיה, אולם גאי סיימונס, שהיה אמור לפקד על הקורפוס הקנדי השני עם הפעלתו בנורמנדי, דרש לתת לו להמשיך בתפקידו, ואפילו סירב להתפטרות של קלר שהודה בעצמו במתח. במהלך הקרב על קן, קלר טיפל בצורה גרועה במבצע ווינדזור, ושלח חטיבה מחוזקת לבצע פעולה אוגדתית והאציל את התכנון לאחת מחטיבותיו.[1]

למרות התלונות המתמשכות מלמעלה ולמטה, סיימונס, והגנרל הארי קריראר, סירבו להקל עליו. הגורל התערב כשנפצע מאש ידידותית ב-8 באוגוסט. מפציצים אמריקאים הפציצו בטעות את מטה החטיבה שלו במהלך מבצע טוטלייז. קלר לא קיבל שום פיקוד צבאי פעיל נוסף. הוא נפטר עשר שנים לאחר מכן, ב-21 ביוני 1954, בעת ביקור בנורמנדי.
