סרינה מריה אוניון-צ'נסלור (באנגלית Serena Auñón-Chancellor,  נולדה ב-9 באפריל 1976, באינדיאנפוליס שבאינדיאנה) היא אסטרונאוטית של נאס"א, רופאה ומהנדסת אמריקאית. מהנדסת הטיסה של משלחות 56 / 57 לתחנת החלל הבינלאומית. עם סיום משלחת 57, אוניון צ'נסלור שהתה בחלל בשהות מצטברת של למעלה מ-196 יום.

ביוגרפיה

נולדה ב-1976 למרגיטה וד"ר חורחה אוניון, קובני גולה שהגיע לארצות הברית ב-1960.

השכלה

בשנת 1997 אוניון-צ'נסלור השלימה תואר ראשון בהנדסת חשמל באוניברסיטת ג'ורג' וושינגטון. בזמן לימודיה היא עבדה כמורה לאמנויות לחימה ולימדה קונג פו לילדים בגילאי 5-15 כדי לממן את הלימודים.[2] היא המשיכה ללימודי רפואה במרכז לרפואה של אוניברסיטת טקסס (University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston) אותם השלימה ב-2001, וקיבלה תואר שני ברפואה ציבורית M.P.H. (אנ') במרכז לרפואה ציבורית של אוניברסיטת טקסס (University of Texas Medical Branch) בשנת 2006.

כרופאה בנאס"א

אוניון-צ'נסלור החלה לעבוד במנאס"א כרופאה מוטסת ב-2006. במסגרת תפקידה, היא תמכה בפעילויות הרפואיות ובתמיכה רפואית מהקרקע עבור צוותי תחנת החלל הבינלאומית. עבור תפקיד זה היא שהתה למעלה מ-9 חודשים בעיר הכוכבים. היא שימשה כסגנית הרופא הצוותי עבור צוות טיסת המעבורת STS-127 ועבור משלחת 22 לתחנת החלל הבינלאומית.[3]

אוניון-צ'נסלור מוסמכת לרפואה פנימית ורפואה מוטסת, והיא אחראית על הנושאים הרפואיים בענף התפעול של תחנת החלל הבינלאומית ועבור הצוות המסחרי (לטיפול טיסות מאוישות מסחריות עתידיות).[3]

בשנת 2009 זכתה בפרס על שם ג'וליאן א. וורד לרופא תעופתי מטעם האיגוד של רופאי חיל האוויר עבור תרומתה לטיסות המאוישות בחלל ולטיפול הרפואי בצוותים.[4] במסגרת תפקידה, היא פיתחה ערכות רפואיות לתמיכה בשיגור ובנחיתה בקזחסטן.[5]

כאסטרונאוטית בנאס"א

אוניון-צ'נסלור נבחרה לכיתת האסטרונאוטים של 2009.[6] היא השלימה את תוכנית האימונים ב-2011.

במסגרת האימונים היא שהתה חודשיים באנטארקטיקה בסוף 2010 ותחילת 2011 כחלק ממשלחת ANSMET (אנ'). המשלחת שנועדה לאתר מטרואיטים באנטארקטיקה, כללה 9 אנשי מערכת וניתוח ו-4 אנשי חיפוש בשטח (ובינם אוניון-צ'נסלור), שביצעו חיפוש ואיתור אתרים למשלחות עתידיות. המשלחת מצאה למעלה מ-1200 מטרואיטים.

NEEMO

אוניון-צ'נסלור השתתפה במשלחות נאס"א לאימון ושהות תת-מימית כחלק מהמשימה האנלוגית NEEMO.

ביוני 2012 אוניון-צ'נסלור הייתה חלק מהצוות שתפעל את הצוללת DeepWorker 2000 כחלק ממשימה משותפת לנאס"א ולמנהל האוקיינוסים והאטמוספירה הלאומי משלחת NEEMO 16 מתחת לחופי קי לארגו, בפלורידה.[7]

ביולי 2015, היא השתתפה בתור אקוונאוטית כחלק מצוות NEEMO 20, שכלל גם את האסטרונאוט האיטלקי לוקה פרמיטנו והאסטרונאוט היפני נוֹרישִׁיגֶה קַאנַאִי.[8]

משלחת 56/57 לתחנת החלל הבינלאומית

ב-16 בינואר 2018 נאס"א הודיעה כי אוניון-צ'נסלור תחליף את ג'נט אפס במשלחת 56/57 לתחנת החלל הבינלאומית.[9]

היא שוגרה לחלל בחללית סויוז MS-09 ב-6 ביוני 2018 יחד עם אלכסנדר גרסט וסרגיי פרוקופייב והיא אמורה לשהות שישה חודשים בתחנת החלל הבינלאומית. היא האישה ההיספנית השנייה בחלל.[10] בעקבות כישלון שיגור סויוז MS-10 משימתם הוארכה, ומשלחת 57 הייתה ברובה משלחת של 3 אנשים עד להגעת סויוז MS-11 לתחנת החלל. ב-20 בדצמבר 2018, אלכסנדר גרסט, אוניון-צ'נסלור וסרגיי פרוקופייב חזרו לכדור הארץ לאחר שהות של 196 יום, 17 שעות ו-49 דקות.[1][11]

אסטרונאוטית בדרג ניהול

נכון לאוקטובר 2019, אוניון-צ'נסלר הועברה לדרגת אסטרונאוטית בדרג ניהול ("Management Astronaut") ואינה כשירה עוד לטיסת חלל. היא הוצבה לטיפול בנושאים רפואיים ותמיכה בפעילויות בחלל במשרד האסטרונאוטים בנאס"א.[3]

חיים אישיים

מחזיקה ברישיון תפעול של חובבי רדיו עם האות KG5TMT.[12], נשואה לפיזיקאי ג'ף צ'נסלור.
