נקרולוג

נקרולוג הוא מאמר המתפרסם באמצעי התקשורת עם מותו של אדם, ומכיל ביוגרפיה קצרה שלו והערכה של פועלו. לעיתים כולל הנקרולוג גם הודעה על המוות עצמו ופרטי ההלוויה, ופעמים אחרות פרטים אלה מתפרסמים בנפרד, מיד עם היוודע דבר המוות, והנקרולוג מתפרסם מאוחר יותר. בהתאם למנהג היהודי "אחרי מות, קדושים אמור" ומקביליו בעמים אחרים, נקרולוגים מתמקדים בצדדים החיוביים בקורותיו של המנוח.

ישנם עיתונים המקדישים מדור קבוע לנקרולוגים. בישראל עושה כך העיתון "הארץ", שכותב הנקרולוגים הנוכחי בו הוא עופר אדרת.[1] בשבועון הבריטי "האקונומיסט" מתפרסם מדי שבוע נקרולוג על עמוד שלם.

לאישים מפורסמים מחזיקים לעיתים אמצעי התקשורת נקרולוג מוכן מראש (המכונה בישראל "חבצלת"), שאותו יוכלו לפרסם מיד עם היוודע דבר המוות. דוגמה לכך היא הנקרולוג על שחקנית הקולנוע אליזבת טיילור, שפורסם עם מותה במרץ 2011 בעיתון "לוס אנג'לס טיימס", אך נכתב 12 שנים קודם לכן ועודכן מפעם לפעם.[2] העיתון "ניו יורק טיימס" מתחזק מאגר של כ-1,600 נקרולוגים על אישים חיים,[3] וכך על הנקרולוג שפרסם העיתון עם מותה של אליזבת טיילור חתום מבקר הקולנוע של העיתון, מל גאסוב (אנ'), אף שהוא נפטר שש שנים לפני טיילור. תקלה באתר האינטרנט של תחנת הרדיו Radio France internationale (אנ') גרמה בנובמבר 2020 לפרסום של כמאה נקרולוגים על אישים חיים, בהם אליזבת השנייה, מלכת הממלכה המאוחדת, קלינט איסטווד ובריז'יט בארדו.[4] בהיעדר נקרולוג מוכן יש עיתונים הכותבים נקרולוג לפי ארכיון העיתון או שיחה עם המשפחה, ויש המתבססים על ביוגרפיה שפורסמה באנציקלופדיה, כגון האנציקלופדיה לחלוצי היישוב ובוניו או ויקיפדיה.

בנוסף לנקרולוגים המתפרסמים בעיתונות הכללית, גם כתבי עת מקצועיים מפרסמים נקרולוגים על חברי הקהילה מקצועית שהלכו לעולמם. נקרולוגים אלה מקיפים יותר, בדרך כלל, ממקביליהם הפנים לציבור הרחב, ומרחיבים בתרומתו המקצועית של המנוח.
