ירוסלב צ'רמק (בצ'כית: Jaroslav Čermák‏; 1 באוגוסט 1830 – 23 באפריל 1878) היה צייר צ'כי הידוע בעיקר בזכות ציורי ההיסטוריה שלו. רבים מציוריו נמצאים באוסף הגלריה הלאומית בפראג.

ביוגרפיה

צ'רמק נולד בפראג. בילדותו סבל צ'רמק מפציעה בירך, ובשל סיבוכים שנוצרו הוא בילה חלק מילדותו צמוד למיטה. תאונה זו שימשה כנראה השראה לתחילתו האמנותית, שכן בעודו במיטה, ללא אפשרות לזוז, הוא מצא עניין בציור.[1]

ב-1847 ו- 1848, צ'רמק למד באקדמיה לאמנויות יפות בפראג כתלמידו של כריסטיאן רובן.[2] חלומו של צ'רמק היה להיות צייר היסטוריה; כיוון שהרגיש שהאימונים בפראג לא הספיקו, הוא נסע לאנטוורפן, שם למד אצל גוסטב וואפרס ולואי גאליט. ב-1852 התיישב בפריז; עם זאת, הוא טייל ברחבי אירופה ולעיתים קרובות חזר למולדתו.

הוא ביקר לעיתים קרובות במונטנגרו, ובשנת 1862 לחם לצד ראשי הרצגובינה וחייליהם בהתקוממות הרצגובינה (1875–1877).[3] על אומץ ליבו בקרב הוענקה לו מדליה על ידי ניקולס הראשון ממונטנגרו. אחד הרחובות בפודגוריצה נקרא על שמו. ב-1874 תכנן ובנה בית משלו בפריז.

הוא הושפע מיצירתו של פטר פאול רובנס. במהלך שהותו בפריז הוא נתקל באז'ן דלקרואה ובאלכסנדר-גבריאל דקאן והכיר את יצירותיהם. רבים מציוריו תיארו סצנות מההיסטוריה הצ'כית; עם זאת, הוא התעניין גם בנושאים ממונטנגרו והרצגובינה העתיקה. יצירותיו מושפעות מהרומנטיקה.

הוא היה תומך חשוב דרך האמנות בתחייה הלאומית הצ'כית, והשתתף באופן פעיל במאמצי האמנציפציה של צ'כים ומדינות קטנות אחרות באירופה. נושאי יצירותיו נושאים חותמת של עמדה נגד בית המלוכה הבסבורג.[4] הוא צייר פורטרטים ויצירות ז'אנר בנוסף לציורי היסטוריה.

ירוסלב צ'רמק נפטר ב-23 באפריל 1878 בפריז. שרידיו הועברו לפראג בשנת 1888. הוא קבור בבית הקברות אולשאני בפראג.
